Jockey Club Local Creative Talents Series
The Making of Vixen
The Silent Opera company from the UK proudly produces opera “for the next generation” and local audiences experienced the magic of its performances up close and personal during the company’s co-production of Vixen with Hong Kong artists at the 51st HKAF. In the documentary Follow the Girl: The Making of Vixen, we see how the incredible set for the roving performance was built at Tai Kwun, and watch the Hong Kong cast and musicians prepare to perform this localised version of the famous opera written by Leoš Janáček. At its heart, Vixen is an unforgettable tale of love, life and loss, but the documentary also reveals the way it inspires us to empathise with marginalised groups or people who society has forgotten about. And all along, we get a glimpse at the wonderful technology that makes Silent Opera shows possible. So sit back and join Vixen on her journey – and remember to follow the girl!
